The Kids From Rec. Road: Pete's Podium Returns!

Yep, it's time for another Pete's Podium over at The Kids From Rec. Road, our semi-regular forum where we discuss the burning issues of the Bronze Age Of Comics.
This month, a double barrelled question:
What's that one comic or series by a creator you like, that came as a real disappointment?
And what's the one you expected nothing of, that came as a pleasant surprise?
As always, we'll be posting every comment & cover from everyone who joins in ( and it doesn't count if you comment here! ) so step over to Rec. Road to the right there, and join in...

The Kids From Rec. Road In: Kids Of The Stones pt. 4

I must say our special guest star, TV and film legend Freddie Jones, is taking to his new career as a cartoon character like a duck to water. Mind you, he's yet to meet Dave Speilberg...

The Kids From Rec. Road In: Kids Of The Stones pt. 3

This week over at Rec. Road, we have a special guest star joining us for the third part of Kids Of The Stones. And for once, it's not Tiger-Man desperately trying to restart his career off the back of our strip.
Ladies and Gentlemen, the great British character actor Freddie Jones, who of course, played village madman Dai in the original Children Of The Stones.
Others may remember Freddie as Sir George Uproar in the wonderful Ghosts Of Motley Hall, or indeed from a million other things, like Krull, Dune or The Satanic Rites Of Dracula, him being in literally everything.
So it's a real pleasure to welcome him to Rec. Road. Mind you, judging by the photo, I'm not sure Freddie is as thrilled.
Join us at Rec. Road quick, before he calls his agent...

The Kids From Rec. Road In: Kids Of The Stones Pt. 2

This week over at Rec Road: Kids Of The Stones, our mystery drama serial for teatime continues. Well, sort of. We're actually still at the casting stage.
The original Children Of The Stones, of course, featured the magnificent Iain Cuthbertson as menacing villain and mysterious village squire, Hendrick.
But where oh where are we gonna get a slimy, creepy bad guy everyone hisses at whenever they appear? Oh wait...

The Kids From Rec. Road: What's YOUR All-Time Fave Bronze Age Comic?

This week over at The Kids From Rec. Road ( Just a swerve of the mouse to the right there as always ), a new feature: Pete's Podium! Where I actually shut up for five minutes, and ask you the searching questions of the day.
For instance: I'm happy to report that footfall over at The Kids' site is steadily increasing, and I know a lot of you are popping over from here, or have found us through our appearances in Comic Scene magazine, and most welcome you are.
But what about the rest of you? What are you into?
For instance, we know what our all-time fave Bronze Age comics are, mostly 'cos we've spent years arguing over and boring each other senseless about them.
But what's your all-time fave of all-time?
Drop in to Rec. Road and tell us; Why does your favourite belong in everybody's collection? And why does it mean so much to you?
We'll post every cover and personal story we get, so let us know.
There's no prize here, other than the satisfaction of saying to Rec. Road Assembled:
"This one! It's THIS one!! THIS is the greatest comic ever!!!"
And who doesn't love doing that...?

Be A Kid From Rec. Road!

Just jonesing for a few extra readers over at my other blog The Kids From Rec. Road, just a short click to the right there.
Regular visitors to The Bronze Age Of Blogs need no prompting, I'm sure, but if this happens to be your first time here:
As well as showing off the best ( and occasionally worst ) in Bronze Age comics, I also produce the aforementioned Kids, a free weekly strip all about when me and my old friends, Sean ( Yes, that Sean Phillips ) Phillips & David ( Who, me? ) Holman, were comic loving kids in the 1970's.

So it's all about me and my pals, but it's about you and your pals too, and the kinds of conversations you had and the comics you loved, and still love. A visual accompaniment to this here blog, if you like.

So join in, click on the link, read The Kids From Rec. Road, eat your greens, get a good nights sleep, do what your mother tells you, for the next hour we will control all that you see and hear.
This week, we're off to see Arnold Lipshitz. You remember Arnold...

In your town, you may've known him by another name. Trust me, he was Arnold Lipshitz too...

The Kids From Rec Road Are Back Back Back! ( And You Never Even Knew We'd Been Away... )

Longtime followers of this blog may recall me banging on about The Kids From Rec. Road a while back, but for the uninitiated:
Back in the '70's, me and my two best friends, Sean ( Philbo ) Phillips and David ( I Only Buy Marvel ) Holman, loved comics so much, we started doing our own comics, as I'm sure a lot of you did.
The Kids From Rec. Road consisted of us having wacky adventures alongside our favourite Marvel & DC characters in a kind of Mad parody stylee that, we were convinced, Stan Lee was going to sue us for at any minute.
Well, fast forward to today, and after literally decades of messrs. Phillips & Holman nagging me, The Kids From Rec. Road are, indeed, back back back!
Here's the poop: There's an indispensable new mag out all about comics, it's available now, and it's called Comic Scene:

And in the premiere issue, you'll find an all-new Kids strip by your humble host. Here's a taster:

But, y'know, you should be buying Comic Scene anyway, even without us. Here's how you get it:
It's available at OK Comics, Gosh Comics, Cartoon Museum, Gnash Comics, First Age Comics, Magazine Heaven and in each and every Forbidden Planet, as well as every con you're likely to go to this year.
Or you can order your print issue for £5.99 or digital issue for £3.99 to paypal.me/comicscene or use the online shop https://tictail.com/comicscene.

But's that not all! In a fit of madness, I've decided to bring The Kids back in real style by producing an all-new strip EVERY WEEK over at kidsfromrecroad.blogspot.com. It's me, Sean & Dave, back in the '70's, arguing and insulting each other about the comics we loved and still love, just like you all and your pal's used to do.
And as well as the strips, there'll be lots of opportunity for everybody to wade in with their opinions on '70's comics. A visual companion piece to this here blog, if you will.
So join in, why don't'cha? This is all free, gratis and for nothing ( at least until I, maybe, get a big enough audience to start charging for this rubbish! ), so skip over there and join The Kids.
This week, our special guest is Tiger-Man. He stalks the night, you know.
Good for him, somebody has to.

The Kids Of Rec. Road in: To Swap or Not To Swap

As I've mentioned before, when I was a kid, me and my two best friends Sean Phillips & David Holman did many, many pages of a comic strip all about ourselves called The Kids From Rec. Road.

Well, a couple of years back, our comic counterparts had a rollickin' reunion, when me & Philbo did the following strip as part of the Thought Bubble festival in Leeds.
I'm including this here, not just because it's a great piece of work by Sean ( and not a bad bit of writing from your humble host ), but because if anything sums up the Bronze Age, and how we three in particular lived through it, it's this strip.

See if it relates to you too...
