Just for the hell of it, let's look at three very different adaptations of Edgar Allen Poe's iconic dark poem
The Raven. To start, here's the mighty Richard Corben with a typically lush piece from Warren reprint title
Comix International:
While from the last issue of Skywald's
Scream, here's Al Hewetson's & Peter Capielli's version, putting Poe himself into the story:
And finally, the most whackadoodle one, Jeff Bonivert's adaptation from the penultimate issue of
Star*Reach. Bonivert's art isn't for everyone, but this might be the most appropriate piece, as it kind of looks like Steranko or Nino, if they were insane...
Actually, the absolute best version is Joan Aiken & Quentin Blake's classic children's books about Arabel and
her raven Mortimer, who was always on
Jackanory crashing into glass or china shops, forever causing havoc while shrieking
'Nevermore!!!' Brilliant stuff.
