This one hurts. Nobody here needs me to recite Berni Wrightson's list of accomplishments, or how great he was right up to the end, with Frankenstein, Alive, Alive! but for me, and I can speak for Philbo as well, The Studio was IT.
THE seminal, read-through a thousand times masterpiece work of art I've probably read more times than any other book or comic I own, and that hit our generation of fans and artists like, I dunno, The Beatles hit the previous one.
I've always said, whenever asked the question ' If you had a time machine, where would you go? ' that I'd want to spend a day ( and a night ) in The Studio.
So let's go there one more time, to that shadowy part of the room, where things skitter and scratch, and there's a cold breath on the back of your neck.
And before you leave, make sure there's a lit candle in that severed head by the window. For Berni.
