Andromeda was a canadian zine edited by Dean Motter, whose main selling point was that each issue carried an adaptation of a short story by a major sci-fi author.
Here's one of the best, James Tiptree's The Man Who Walked Home, by John Allison & Tony Meers.
Allison was at the time, getting work in Roy Thomas' Unknown Worlds Of Science Fiction, and this would've fit nicely over there. It moves at it's own pace, being very definitely a short story rather than an episode, and unlike today's comics, is not a five-minute read.
But give it the time it requires, and you'll be rewarded.
