The Winter Of The Last Combat

A gorgeous piece now from the 2nd year of Heavy Metal. The story is, I suppose, a little slight and seems unfinished but, man alive, is the art beautiful.
It seems to be an example of the art trick beloved of the Spanish Warren artists, where you ink in heavy blacks, then scratch away with a thin blade endlessly, until you get atmospheric, haunting artwork impossible with pen or brush. I can't get enough of this sort of thing, personally.

  1. This story belongs to a comic series of seven stories named "Las Crónicas del Sin Nombre" published in France in 1973 and in EEUU and Spain in 1975. There is a spanish tradepaperback published in 1982 with the same name.

  2. 'The Chronicles Of The Nameless', eh? Curse you, Tristan, now I've gotta add that to the want list!
